Wimberly, Sr.

A compassionate, warm and loving person; Johnnie Wimberly, who was born to the parentage of Timothy and Emma Wimberly, in Fitzgerald, Ga. Johnnie was united in holy matrimony on September 7, 1935 to Miss Clara Wimberly. To this union eleven children were born. The Christian life for Brother Johnnie began at an early age. Johnnie joined Hopewell Baptist Church in 1946, under the leadership of Rev. D. V. Miller and Emeritus R. W. Williams. He would encourage the speaker with his Amens. He was a lively stone in the church, where he loved to serve under the leadership of Rev. Robert C. Stanley. He served as member of the #1 choir, male chorus and the brother hood. He attended church for the last time on July 26, 1992. To this union was eleven children. John Jr, Annie, Willie James, Floyd, Robin, Jean, Larita, Clifford, Ruby, Geraldine and Robert.
